I read that applying vitamin E on your skin is good for the face, but wouldn’t it cause acne breakouts since it’s an oil? How much should I apply?

No, Vitamin E oil doesn’t, it’s a natural oil and stops your skin producing as much oil itself. The kind of oil that clogs your pores is called mineral oil (think vaseline).
